BIRCHBOX UK December 2014

I can't believe it's December already! Which means it's time for an extra special and sparkly BirchBox......
What's in my box this month:

I only just received my box yesterday and couldn't control my excitement to try everything out. I applied this Model's Own nail polish which is from the Velvet Goth line (love the name) in the colour 'Sardonyx'. This is a peculiar product, the polish itself had a matte finish which combined with glitter is supposed to create a velvet effect and I think I like it! I picked this shade out myself though it was hard to choose as all the colours were so pretty and festive, each with very cool names like absinthe, obsidian, amethyst etc.

The second product I was really excited about was the Eyeko fat eye stick. I have wanted to try something out by Eyeko for a while now, they just seem like such a Rock 'n' Roll brand and who doesn't want to achieve Alexa Chung's signature eyes? I will be smudging this gorgeous smokey shadow stick all over my eyes later. I also purchased an Eyeko mascara yesterday in the BirchBox shop with my points and I can't wait to test it out.

Also in my box this month was the cutest Benefit mini cracker with a Highbeam sample inside. I can't wait to test this out as I've never owned a liquid highlighter before and I have heard a lot of good things about this product.

I was pleasantly surprised by the size of this Eslor firming collagen day cream which is a product exclusive to BirchBox. I have tried it out and the smell is very nostalgic to me. It reminds me of putting on my Grandma's face powder when I was much younger. The product left my face feeling silky smooth and so far I really like it.

I washed my hair last night using some of the Electric Hair Hydrating Shampoo. I have been struggling lately to find a shampoo that doesn't flare up my eczema but still does a good job to wash my hair properly without leaving it looking lifeless. This shampoo seemed to work well and making my hair shiny and thick. I have never heard of this brand before but I love the name 'Electric Hair' and I really love the final result.

In the last week or so the temperature in the UK seems to have dropped dramatically and the skin on my face is really suffering especially two patches below my eyes. I have been applying the Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil to these areas and so far it seems to be helping. The sample is very small but a tiny drop goes a long way. Since I have very dry skin I don't mind putting oil on my face but this product can be used anywhere on the body to combat dry patches.

Finally in my box was this cute Sophia Webster purse worth £25. Sophia Webster is a shoe designer and this month's box was a collaboration with her.

It's hard for me to say whether I prefer this month's box to last month's Cozy at Home box. I think it's a tie I love them both and I think they each had a well balanced mix between makeup and beauty items.
